Donna Mallory lives in Wild, Wonderful West Virginia with her husband of 35 years, Steve. They have two children: Rachel, 34, married to Kevin Richards, and a shoe designer in New York, and Andrew, 30, a real estate professional and landscape designer.   Donna is a graduate of West Virginia University with a B.S. in Journalism. Steve is a graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University and the West Virginia University College of Law. They work together in a successful family real estate sales, development, and management business.

Born the child and grandchild of animal lovers, it was only natural that Donna would work and study to develop her skills as a dog trainer. Although training her own dogs had been her priority, a friend convinced her to begin teaching at a local training facility. For eight years, she taught beginning obedience and beginning and intermediate agility. One of her greatest joys is watching her students compete and title their dogs. Donna prides herself on her ability as a coach.

In 2001, started her own training business and offers several services in addition to private lessons. Some of the services include behavior consultations and temperament and puppy evaluations. She will also consult with a client concerning the best breed for them and research for reputable breeders. She believes in the importance of individuals owning the dog that's right for them and their lifestyle and having the opportunity to obtain that dog from the best possible source. If the client wants to adopt a shelter dog, Donna will visit the shelter with them and advise on the choices available.

In addition to her dogs, Donna enjoys hiking, gardening and tennis and has a USTA rating of 4.0. She recently started playing the game of squash, but says the jury is still out on whether it's really fun, or she's just too oxygen deprived to know she's miserable. However, it's good conditioning for keeping up with her Border Collies. In addition to her BCs, Donna and Steve share their home with Ella Fitzgerald, a lovely adopted cat that everyone was always telling to "scat".
